CIRM Information
This page contains a regularly updated collection of important meeting and deadline information from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM).
Meetings:
Funding Opportunities:
RFA 10-04: CIRM Basic Biology Awards III
The CIRM Basic Biology Awards III will fund research grants to investigate basic mechanisms underlying stem cell biology, cellular plasticity, and cellular differentiation. Studies supported by these awards will form the foundation for future translational and clinical advances, enabling the realization of the full potential of human stem cells and reprogrammed cells for therapies and as tools for biomedical innovation.
RFA 10-02: CIRM Tools and Technology Awards II
The CIRM Tools and Technology Awards II will support the inception, early stage development and evaluation for stem cell research applications of innovative tools and technologies that will overcome current roadblocks in translational stem cell research. CIRM encourages the submission of proposals that are focused on both the creation and design of novel tools and technologies and the optimization, improvement, standardization or scale up of an existing tool or technology for addressing a translational bottleneck. Proposals should be focused on tools and technologies directly applicable to the use of human cells.
RFA 10-01: CIRM Early Translational II Research Awards
Stem cells offer the unique potential to restore tissues damaged by injury or disease. The rapid expansion of stem cell research over the past few years suggests that there are research discoveries ready for translational research toward the clinic. The purpose of this CIRM Early Translational II Research Awards RFA is to support projects that enable the initial stage of this process. The key objectives of this RFA are the support of research: 1) that results in a Development Candidate ready for IND-enabling preclinical development or 2) that leads towards a Development Candidate.
RFA 09-04: CIRM Research Leadership Awards
The CIRM Research Leadership Awards will support robust and innovative stem cell research programs of the most promising researchers newly recruited to California. These awards will enable universities and research institutions to attract the very best stem cell scientists, with a focus on those who are early-to-mid career but have already established themselves as independent investigators and emerging national or international leaders in the stem cell field. They also will permit the recipients to pursue high-risk, high payoff, innovative studies that could not be adequately supported by other sources. The awardees will bolster California’s efforts in stem cell research and further CIRM’s mission to advance novel treatments and cures into medical practice.
RFA 09-03: CIRM Stem Cell Transplantation Immunology Awards
The potential for stem cells to replace or restore tissues lost to injury or disease represents one of the most promising outcomes of regenerative medicine. However, immune rejection of stem cell grafts remains a challenge to clinical translation of stem cell research. Methods to overcome immune rejection of stem cell derived grafts must therefore be developed to fully realize the benefits of stem cell therapies. The purpose of the CIRM Stem Cell Transplantation Immunology Awards is to fund transformative research leading to the development of immune tolerance of pluripotent stem cell derivatives and potential correction of autoimmunity.
PA 08-06: CIRM Conference Grants
This Program Announcement (PA) will support the development and conduct of scientific conferences relevant to stem cell research. A scientific conference is defined as an organized event where persons physically assemble to exchange scientific information or explore a defined scientific subject. Support of such conferences is contingent on the fiscal and programmatic priorities of CIRM. Conference grant awards are open to non-profit organizations in California.
